Fall Days and Rainy Nights

I love the nights when I can open my window, hear the chirp of the crickets, feel the cool soft breeze of the midnight air come in and brush against my nose, which is the only part of me sticking out from the covers. I like it just a little bit cool in the room, and sleep with a ton of covers on.

I like the weekend mornings even better then the weekdays. During the weekdays, I know what time it is by what vehicles or people I hear outside. The guy who goes to work at 5:30 am (sucks for him) and who "warms up" his car even on the warmest summer day for like 10 minutes before he leaves. Or the guy who pounds on the door downstairs when he leaves at 6am. or my neighbors upstairs who almost always wake up to their alarm clock, get right up, and after the intial getting out of bed, are nice and quiet.

During the weekdays I feel like I'm the last to get up. During the weekends I feel like I'm the first to get up.

I leave my window open for the night sounds and breezes, and am awoken by the sunlight and birds rather then the 5:30 car starting wake-up. I get up and go outside to get my paper and all the cars are still parked with a layer of dew on them. The loudest noise all morning is the garbage truck at 8am.

Prehaps getting up earlier on the weekdays would have its advantages, like not having to be awoken by the thudthudthud of the neighbor pounding on the door. But I rather get up early on the weekend, and savor the quiet.

If I were President

Or more like Emperor for I doubt I could get half this stuff past the legistature.

  • A free college education to any public university for those that serve 4+ years on active military service
  • Anyone who retires from the military would not have to pay any income tax. Ever. Same with any veteran of a foreign (or domestic, umm) war.
  • I would legalize drugs. All drugs. I would treat them the same as alcohol: you can't drive while under the influence, go to work while under the influence (well, depending on your employer), anything that you
  • I would also legalize prostitution.
  • Gay marriage would be legal - though it would be a civil / governmental marriage not mandatory for any religion to perform if they didn't want to, though if they did, they could perform the cermony.
  • I would disband the FCC.
  • And the Homeland Security Department.
  • I would up the minimum wage to a living wage and set a maximum wage. Screw the big business cats who complain we can't stay in business if you raise the minimum wage 'cause we can't afford it. Well, you'll be able to afford it since you won't be giving yourself a multimillion dollar bonus for occassionally showing up for work.
  • An addition to the above: All elected officals would make minimum wage. From the President of the United States to the elected town clerk, they would all make minimum wage.

I don't need no stinkin' alarm clock

I don't why. Somehow I almost always wake up before the alarm clock. Set the alarm for either 6:18am or 6:32 am and I still manage to wake up at least 5 minutes before the alarm. . .though i try to lay there until the alarm actually goes off.

Dead Like Her

I could watch Dead Like Me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Oh and woe is me - without teevee, without cable, without Showtime, I'm stuck waiting for the 2nd season to end so it'll come out on DVD. ::sigh::

Sunday Morning Rountine

Newspaper. Coffee. Scratchies.

That used to be my Sunday morning. I don't get a scratchie any more unless I'm visiting my mom. When I lived with my mom, I would also make it a point of watching the Sunday morning talk shows and then the NFL pre-game shows. Now that I don't have a teevee, Sunday mornings are just the newspaper, a cup of coffee and checking email.

The window to my living room faces east and the sunlight streams in during the morning, the apartment complex is quiet and peaceful, and Sunday morning is my favorite time of the week.

First Posting

Why and who cares.

Seems to me for a blog to be popular it has to have a niche that no other blog does as well as it does. I only view one blog on a daily basis, LinkMachineGo, only cause I know the guy that does it will have new content up, new intersting links, almost every day. And sometimes he posts a couple interesting links. So daily content is important to me.

I currently have a Del.icio.us account with Cerebus links, so I don't really need to do that here.

So right now, this will be a place for my thoughts - rather then my journal, the traditional book & pen type - with some links and other stuff as it pops up.
